Posting on social media without a plan often leads to random content and disappointing results. A simple content plan helps you stay consistent, speak to the right audience and turn followers into enquiries.
1. Start with clear goals
Decide what you want social media to achieve. Common goals include brand awareness, website visits, enquiries or online sales. Your goal decides what type of content you create and how you measure success.
2. Know your audience
Write down who your ideal customers are, what problems they have and which platforms they use most. A clinic may focus on Facebook and Instagram, while a B2B service may get better results on LinkedIn.
3. Use content pillars
Content pillars are three to five themes you post about regularly. For example:
- Education: tips and answers to common questions
- Proof: results, before and after work and reviews
- Behind the scenes: your team, process and values
- Offers: services, promotions and clear calls to action
4. Mix formats
Short videos and reels usually reach more people, while carousels are great for step-by-step tips. Mix reels, carousels, single images and stories to keep your feed interesting.
5. Plan a monthly calendar
Create a simple calendar with post dates, topics, formats and captions. Planning ahead saves time and makes approvals easier.
6. Review results every month
Look at reach, engagement, website clicks and enquiries. Do more of what works and adjust what does not.
